First Class
Welcome to Body Harmony Pilates! The Foundations Classes are designed to move at a slower pace so we can teach you the fundamentals of the Pilates’ exercises, introduce you to the terminology and show you how to use the equipment. Our instructors are skilled at offering modifications and progressions to meet you exactly where you are in your fitness journey. We believe starting here is not only for your safety but will help you get the most out of your Pilates’ session.
FAQs

Comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely is ideal. Form fitting attire like leggings or athletic pants and a fitted t-shirt or tank top work best as they allow instructors to see your alignment. Avoid loose or baggy clothing, zippers, and buttons. Pilates is practiced barefoot or in clean grip socks.

Just yourself! We provide all equipment and props needed for your practice. You may want to bring a water bottle and a small towel if you wish.

Many clients find that Pilates helps with back pain by strengthening core muscles, improving posture, and creating better movement patterns. However, if you have a specific injury or condition, please consult your healthcare provider before beginning, and inform your instructor so they can provide appropriate modifications.

Classical Pilates follows Joseph Pilates' original method, exercises, and equipment designs. We maintain the integrity of his sequence and philosophy, focusing on full-body integration and precise technique rather than isolated exercises or contemporary adaptations.
-
While both practices promote mind-body connection, Pilates focuses more on core strength, spinal alignment, and controlled, precise movements. Pilates utilizes specialized equipment and emphasizes functional strength training, while yoga incorporates more flexibility, static poses, and often includes meditation and spiritual elements.
